Japanese household product manufacturer to make diapers
Japanese household product manufacturer Iris Ohyama will start producing diapers for babies and toddlers.
The company expanded its healthcare business in 2020 during the COVID-19 pandemic when it embarked on mass production of masks in Japan, which were in short supply worldwide.
However, sales have been declining post-pandemic.
The company announced that it would start producing disposable diapers for babies next year.
The demand for baby diapers in Japan has been falling due to the declining birthrate.
Iris Ohyama plans to increase profits by raising unit prices, expanding its market share by utilizing its sales network, and selling its diapers overseas.
The manufacturer aims to grow its sales of baby diapers to 10 billion yen by 2030 to boost its healthcare business.
