Central Japan Railway, or JR Tokai for short, announced on April 17 that it will set private compartments on the Tokaido Shinkansen Line with better facilities and services than Green cars.

Part of the N700S train cars will be equipped with fully private compartment-type seats with a high sense of privacy by fiscal 2026.

In addition to a private Wi-Fi and reclining seats with leg rests, it will be possible to adjust the lighting, air conditioning, and volume of the in-car announcements individually.

JR Tokai assumes that the room will be used by passengers who want to have online meetings without hesitation, people who value privacy, and people who want to relax without worrying about their surroundings.

The company plans to introduce two rooms per train, and the operating section and price have not been decided yet and will be announced as soon as they are decided
