Princess Hisako attends Tokyo National Museums new exhibition

Princess Hisako of Takamado attended on January 20 the opening of Tokyo National Museum’s special exhibition commemorating the 1,150th founding anniversary of Daikakuji Temple.

This exhibit introduces the history and culture of Daikakuji Temple that was originally built as Emperor Saga’s imperial villa in Kyoto during the Heian Period over a millennium ago.

Artifacts from the temple including national treasures and important cultural properties are up for display.

After the opening ceremony, Princess Hisako observed the Five Great Wisdom Kings statues and commented on their peacefulness.

The special exhibit runs until March 16.
