Gutsy watermelon's offspring served to visitors at Osaka botanical garden
Last October, a "gutsy" watermelon was found growing on a median strip of Midosuji Boulevard, a main street in Osaka.
The watermelon’s seeds were grown at Sakuya Konohana Kan, a conservatory in the western Japanese city.
Sixteen second-generation "gutsy" watermelons that are slightly bigger than their parent matured this year.
On September 7, they were served to about 200 visitors at the botanical garden.
