Empress Emerita Michiko visits imperial household hospital for surgery follow-up
Empress Emerita Michiko visited the Hospital of the Imperial Household in Tokyo on October 15 for a follow-up after undergoing surgery for a fractured thighbone a week earlier.
The retired empress fell at her residence on October 6 and underwent surgery on her upper right thigh two days later at the University of Tokyo Hospital.
Her aides said she has been recovering well and started rehabilitation before being discharged from the hospital on October 13.
Sources said she visited the imperial household hospital at the Imperial Palace for post-surgery examinations.
This was her first outing since returning home after the operation.
