Japan's Crown Prince Fumihito meets Turkish President
Japan’s Crown Prince Fumihito met with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan at the Presidential Complex in Ankara on December 4.
The visit came during the crown prince’s visit to mark the 100th anniversary of Japan-Turkey ties.
Crown Prince Fumihito delivered a message from Emperor Naruhito saying he wishes to further promote goodwill between the two countries.
The Turkish President spoke about the two countries’ friendship including Japan’s support for the 2023 Turkey-Syria Earthquake.
Crown Princess Kiko was guided by Turkish First Lady Emine Erdogan and visited the library that sits on the grounds of the Presidential Complex.
She saw an exhibition on the sultans of the Ottoman Empire and interacted with local children who were visiting the library.
Crown Prince Fumihito and Crown Princess Kiko later joined President Erdoğan and the First Lady for a reception party hosted by the President.
The imperial couple will attend a ceremony celebrating the 100th anniversary of bilateral ties in Istanbul on December 5.
