Ishiba to G7 leaders: status quo cannot be changed by force
Ishiba Shigeru, Prime Minister of Japan: I said (during the meeting) that we need to be careful not to draw the wrong lesson that the status quo can be changed by force.
Prime Minister Ishiba Shigeru joined an online meeting of G7 leaders on the three-year anniversary of Russia's invasion of Ukraine on February 24.
Ishiba said that during the meeting, there was a lot of appreciation for the discussions between US President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin.
He also said during the meeting that the unity of the G7 is necessary to realize peace in Ukraine and that Japan will continue its support for Ukraine and sanctions against Russia.
The Prime Minister participated in the summit to discuss support for Ukraine and said that it is important to realize peace in Ukraine as soon as possible with their involvement.
