Japan's Emperor and Empress attend viola concert

Japan's Emperor Naruhito and Empress Masako attended a viola concert on January 13.

The two attended 85-year-old violist Uzuka Toshiyuki's recital in Tokyo.

Uzuka, a professor emeritus at the Tokyo College of Music, has been teaching viola to Emperor Naruhito for about 40 years.

The imperial couple applauded Uzuka after he played a song he made for the emperor at the end of his two-and-a-half hour performance.
