Ritual held on 100th day since death of Princess Yuriko
A memorial ritual marking 100 days since the death of Princess Yuriko of Mikasa took place at the Toshimagaoka cemetery in Tokyo on February 22.
Imperial family members including her granddaughter Princess Akiko paid their respects.
Others included Princess Aiko, the only child of Emperor Naruhito and Empress Masako.
Crown Prince Fumihito, the first in line to Japan's Chrysanthemum throne, Crown Princess Kiko and their children Princess Kako and Prince Hisahito, the second in line, also visited.
Yuriko, a great-aunt of Naruhito, passed away in November at age 101.
As with traditional custom, the emperor, the empress, Emperor Emeritus Akihito and Empress Emerita Michiko did not come to the graveyard but sent chamberlains on their behalf.
Prior to this event, a ceremony took place at the Mikasa residence in the Akasaka Estate in the morning.
