Food poisoning suspected in students back from Guam on 2 flights at Narita Airport

A total of 26 people who returned to Japan from their school trip to Guam complained of symptoms of food poisoning as they arrived at Narita Airport on two flights on November 7.

Police and other officials said 11 high school students on a Japan Airlines flight that landed around 7 p.m. experienced stomachache and other discomfort.

As six of them said they had the symptoms from before getting on the plane, officials believe their condition was not caused by in-flight meals.

On a United Airlines flight from Guam, 14 students and one teacher from the same high school experienced symptoms like vomiting.

Fire department officials said there is a possibility that the situation was caused by group food poisoning during their stay in Guam.
