Matsumoto marks 30th anniversary of deadly gas attack

Locals and the bereaved gathered on June 27 to commemorate the victims of the deadly Matsumoto sarin attack.

8 people died and more than 6,00 people were injured on June 27, 1994, when Aum Shinrikyo cult members released the gas in a residential area in Matsumoto City.

One victim lived in a company dormitory that used to stand here.

A table was set up to offer flowers.

Person who lost boss / It's been 30 years since my boss died, but I couldn't visit here until today. I wanted to offer flowers, and I was finally able to come after three decades.

Visitors will be able to offer flowers at the site until 6PM on June 28.

Aum Shinrikyo divided into Aleph and other groups after the sarin attack and remain active.
