The Tokyo Metropolitan Government confirmed on May 24 that the family assistance program “018 Support” that began last year will continue in the 2024 fiscal year.

Families in the program will receive 5000 yen monthly per person under the age of 18 regardless of household income.

Those who applied to the program the previous year do not need to reapply. However, families who have moved or had a new child since first applying will need to reapply.

The government streamlined the enrollment process after receiving many comments on its difficulty last year.

Applicants can now enroll by placing a smartphone over their My Number Card.

Over 1.8 million people have enrolled as of April.

Enrollment for the 2024 fiscal year will open on June 11.
