SAKURA FORECAST: Cherry trees to bloom in Tokyo on March 21
Weathernews released on January 29 its second forecasts of when Somei Yoshino cherry trees will bloom in Japan in 2025, the earliest in Tokyo on March 21.
The variety is expected to blossom from the following day in Kochi, Hiroshima and Yokohama.
The sakura will likely start to flower in late March in other parts of western and eastern Japan and in early April in the southern part of northeastern Japan.
In late April, the cherry blossoms are forecast to begin in the northernmost prefecture of Hokkaido.
The sakura blooming season in northern Japan is projected to come earlier than usual this year.
