Debris removal process suspended at Fukushima Daiichi

 

The debris removal process at Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant began on September 10 after three years of postponement. A device similar to a fishing rod had been put inside the containment vessel to collect a few grams of debris.However, the plant’s operator Tokyo Electric Power Company said that it suspended operations on September 17 after the camera mounted on the device stopped working.TEPCO said that the camera was not properly showing footage.The operator is investigating the cause but has not said when the removal process will be resumed.
