Emperor tours Japan cultural center in London
Japan's Emperor Naruhito toured the Japan House, a Japanese cultural center in London.
The event took place on June 23, the second day of his and Empress Masako's visit to Britain.
The facility promotes the various cultures of Japan, including the country's traditional crafts and daily goods.
Among the items on display were Wajima lacquerware and Japanese candles from Ishikawa Prefecture in central Japan.
The emperor expressed amazement at how many articles the center had collected.
He also saw an exhibit of Japanese designs selected by Japanese creators who are active around the world.
Naruhito engaged in activities alone, taking in consideration his wife's health condition.
