The Jigokudani Demon fireworks began on June 1 in the hot spring district of Noboribetsu, Hokkaido in northern Japan.

The Yukijin, or the protectors of the hot springs shown in demon form, prayed for the health and happiness of people and aimed their fireworks to the sky.

Visitors applauded the performance.
