Bullet train service suspended between Nagoya and Hamamatsu stations
The bullet train service on the Tokaido Shinkansen line is currently suspending operations on both the inbound and outbound lines between Nagoya Station in Aichi Prefecture and Hamamatsu Station in Shizuoka Prefecture, central Japan since the first train of the day on July 22.
The service suspension was caused by a collision early in the day between two maintenance vehicles on the tracks in Aichi Prefecture.
According to Central Japan Railway, the accident occurred between Toyohashi Station and Mikawa-Anjo Station at around 3:40 a.m. and both vehicles got derailed.
At that time, maintenance work was being carried out on the gravel laid beneath the tracks at the site.
Two male workers on board the collided vehicles sustained minor injuries.
Since neither of the vehicles can move on their own, work is still ongoing to remove them using heavy machinery.
JR Central expects the recovery work to continue until the evening.
