Seven dead after heavy rain pounds Noto Peninsula

Heavy rain pounded Noto Peninsula in Ishikawa Prefecture on September 21.

Wajima and Suzu City were particularly hard-hit by record rainfall.

Suzu City observed a record-394 millimeters of rainfall in 48 hours.

Streets were flooded and this housing was slanted after the foundation of the house was washed away.

At least seven rivers flooded in Suzu City. Mudslides also occurred in the city, crushing houses.

NNN Reporter / Soil and debris poured in from the mountains in the back and crushed houses. One person died from the landslide.

Seven people have been confirmed dead altogether following the heavy rainfall.

Six remained missing as of September 23.
