Osaka's Kishiwada holds lively Danjiri Festival
S/ Suzuki Jun, Camera Reporter/ Kishiwada Danjiri Festival has started. This festival is filled with excitement and passion.
Kishiwada in Osaka Prefecture held the lively Danjiri Festival on September 14, where participants pulled Danjiri floats across town from 6AM.
34 floats that are each 4 meters tall and weigh over 4 tons were pulled through the streets of the castle city at high speeds.
A member of the team stood atop the moving danjiri float and jumped around adding to the excitement and passion of the festival.
The main viewing point of the festival is where participants made sharp turns along the route while maintaining their full speed.
Spectators cheered as the floats successfully rounded the corners.
At other times, some team members lost their footing in the intensity of the rush.
Visitors from all over Japan and abroad come every year to see the spirited festival, which has a rich history over 300 years since the Edo Period.
