Sony Group mulls acquiring media giant KADOKAWA
The Sony Group is considering the acquisition of media giant KADOKAWA.
According to sources, the Sony Group plans to invest about 1.8 trillion yen in growth investments, including corporate acquisitions, during the three years starting this fiscal year.
Japan’s technology and entertainment group has positioned the entertainment business as a pillar of growth.
KADOKAWA started as a publisher but has a strong presence in anime and films now. It also focuses on video games and video streaming services.
As of the end of September, the Sony Group held 2.1 percent of KADOKAWA's shares, and it is believed that the acquisition is aimed at strengthening the entertainment business.
