Two years since the assassination of former PM Abe
Ahead of the two-year anniversary of the shooting of former Prime Minister Abe Shinzo, a flower stand was set up in front of Yamato-Saidaiji Station, the site of the incident.
The incident occurred on July 8, 2022, while Abe was giving a campaign speech for a colleague, when Yamagami Tetsuya fired on Abe with a homemade gun, killing him.
A floral tribute stand was set up in front of the station at the site of the incident by Liberal Democratic Party members and others so that people could pay their respects.
Visitor from Fukui Prefecture: I feel that we lost a leader of Japan, an indispensable leader, and I really just wanted to say thank you for their hard work.
There is also a floral tribute stand at Mikasa Cemetery in Nara, where the memorial monument for Abe is located.
For those who would like to pay their respects, the stands will be available on July 7 and 8, at the station from 9AM to 5PM, and at the cemetery from 10AM to 5PM.
