Ohtani in the Rice field art
A rice field in Oshu City in Iwate Prefecture got a special look for the month.
Seven rice plants including white and purple ones were used to depict baseball star Ohtani Shohei.
The paddy field featured Ohtani as a Los Angeles Angels player in 2019.
It also made a work featuring him when Ohtani was named the World Baseball Classic MVP last year.
This year, Ohtani’s dog Dekopin was also included in the artwork.
People from around Japan have been visiting to take a look at the work made by the local association.
One thing that caught this visitor’s attention was the Japanese katakana “ho” written next to Ohtani.
Other letters were drawn in rice fields in other prefectures as well.
Six fields across the country altogether write “Home Run King.”
People will be able to enjoy the art works until the end of July.
