Shipping of cubic watermelons starts
Kagawa Prefecture in southwestern Japan started shipping cubic watermelons on July 3.
Fudeoka Ward in Zentsuji City has been growing the square watermelons for 50 years.
The watermelons are often used for decorative purposes.
Around 200 of the unique fruit were collected at the shipping area on July 3, a week later than usual due to weather conditions.

Local elementary school students and foreign media were at the site to film the watermelons on Wednesday (July 3).
