Fire breaks out at Palace of Versailles

Tourists were temporarily evacuated from the Palace of Versailles in France on June 11, after a fire broke out in a section of the roof.

The palace, which is one of France's busiest tourist attractions, was undergoing renovations to its roof ahead of the 2024 Summer Olympic Games.

According to Reuters, tourists were temporarily evacuated, but the fire was quickly extinguished, and the artwork in the palace was not damaged.

The Palace of Versailles, which was commissioned by King Louis XIV in the 17th century, will be the venue for equestrian and other events at the Olympics, which start next month.
