Hiroshima disappointed that Japan won't attend UN nuclear meeting as observer
People in Hiroshima expressed disappointment that the Japanese government is considering not attending an upcoming meeting of state parties to the Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons in New York as an observer.
Mimaki Toshiyuki, a co-chairperson of Nihon Hidankyo, spoke at an event on January 26 commemorating the awarding of the Nobel Peace Prize last year to the group of survivors of the atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki.
S/ Mimaki Toshiyuki, Nihon Hidankyo Co-Chairperson / Is there a solid reason for Japan not to go? I highly doubt it.
Another participant said the Japanese government lacks awareness as a country that has experienced atomic bombing.
