SMILE-UP. slammed in UN Human Rights Council report
Victims with claims of sexual harm against Johnny Kitagawa held a press conference on May 30 in response to a report from the UN Human Rights Council on the matter.
The report, which was released on May 28, was from a working group on Business and Human Rights and was based on surveys it took last year.
Of the several criticisms from the working group, the report pointed out that the road to the relief sought by the victims is long.
At the press conference, Johnny's Sexual Assault Victims Association Deputy Representative Ishimaru Shimon said the process has only just begun.
Ishimaru Shimon, Johnny's Sexual Assault Victims Association Deputy Representative: It's not halfway there; we've only just begun. We want SMILE-UP. to be single-mindedly committed to compensation and relief.
A man who was excluded from compensation also spoke, saying that the reason he was excluded was not given, and that such handling of the issue is not in the interest of victims.
SMILE-UP., the company in charge of compensation for victims, said of the report that it would continue to take steps to help victims after carefully examining the points raised.
