Scaled down dance festival held in central Japan amid quake recovery

A traditional summer dance festival took place in Wajima, Ishikawa Prefecture, on August 14.

The event that dates back hundreds of years usually lasts three nights to comfort the spirits of ancestors.

But this year, it was shortened to one night as recovery from January's Noto Peninsula earthquake continues in central Japan.

Some came from temporary housing facilities, while some were visiting their hometown for the summer holidays.

S/ Participant / At first, we were wondering if the event will take place, but we were happy when they decided to do it.
