Japan sets new record with over 33 million foreign visitors this year
According to the Japan National Tourism Organization, an estimated 3,187,000 foreigners visited Japan in November, up 30.5 percent from the same month in the pre-pandemic year of 2019 and a new record for November.
The fall foliage season is thought to have boosted demand for visits to Japan, with particularly high numbers of visitors from China and South Korea, as well as the United States.
The total number of foreign visitors to Japan from January to November this year reached 33,379,900 with one month to go.
