Seven & i to announce restructuring details

Seven & i Holdings is expected to announce on October 10 that it will sell some of its shares in the supermarket chain Ito-Yokado and others and change to a new group structure concentrating on its convenience store business.

According to sources, the company is considering selling a portion of its shares in the Ito-Yokado and other supermarket businesses.

The purpose of this sale is to clarify the company's stance to concentrate more on its mainstay convenience store business.

In conjunction with this sale, Seven & i Holdings is also considering changing its name.

President Isaka Ryuichi is expected to make an announcement at an earnings press conference this afternoon.

President Isaka's response to a revised 7-trillion-yen acquisition offer, a 20 percent premium from the previous offer, from the Canadian convenience store giant is drawing attention as it could signal the company’s strategic direction and impact global markets.
