Emperor and empress visit sake bar at unmanned train station in Saga
Emperor Naruhito and Empress Masako visited a sake bar at an unmanned train station in Saga Prefecture, southwestern Japan, on October 6.
The bar is located at Hizen-Hama Station in the city of Kashima, which is working on promoting tourism involving locally made alcoholic beverages.
The imperial couple listened to local fourth grade students explain what sake brewery is using posters they prepared.
They praised the children for their excellent work.
The emperor, who is known to be fond of sake, chatted with young brewery owners.
He told them that he drank local sake the night before and said it was delicious.
The emperor and empress arrived in Saga on October 5 to attend the opening ceremony of an annual national sports festival.
They returned to Tokyo on the night of October 6.
