Japanese police hand out rice crackers to stop students' illegal part-time jobs
On the evening of December 13, Kasukabe police officers, along with members of a local high school student council, handed out local rice cracker ‘kawara senbei’ to students and other commuters at a train station during rush hour.
The campaign was titled “ ‘Senbei’ -to not - get involved in illegal jobs” playing on the word “senbei” and the Japanese phrase for avoiding.
The campaign aims to raise awareness about the risks of becoming involved in these activities during the upcoming holiday season and winter break.
Crimes such as robbery and murder, often linked to illegal part-time jobs, have been particularly serious in the Kanto region this year.
Saitama Police urged students not to fall for tempting offers and emphasized the importance of consulting the police if they find themselves caught up in such schemes.
