Saitama Prefecture lifted an evacuation order on February 19 it had in place for 47 residents near a massive sinkhole that emerged on January 28.

The prefecture had issued the order for 14 households because the ground had become unstable due to work that was done to rescue the missing driver of a 2-ton-truck who fell into the sinkhole on January 28.

Saitama Prefecture plans to speak to about 140 households near the site about the prospects for the rescue operations and restoration work.
