Man-attacking bear finally captured but eats meat at supermarket

A special police unit in Akita Prefecture was busy on November 2 protecting the safety of citizens.

They anesthetized and removed a bear that was caught in a trap at a supermarket.

The bear appeared on the morning of November 30 and attacked a 47 year-old male employee who was preparing to open the store, leaving him with injuries on his head and face.

Workers later saw from outside the store that the meat that was sold in the supermarket was gone.

The mammal was finally taken out of the store after about 55 hours of standoff.

The supermarket sits in a residential area about 500 meters from Akita Port.
