Thunderstorm hits Tokyo, disrupting Haneda Airport operations

Company employee: I went to see the Hanshin-Yakult baseball game at the Jingu Stadium. The game was called off due to rain, so I had no choice but to come here for a drink.

Company employee: I wanted to watch the game, so I held out, but I should have left earlier.

Lightening struck multiple times.
At Shibuya’s scramble crossing, large raindrops were falling heavily.
In Tokyo, a heavy rain and flood warning was issued on the night of August 7.
According the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism’s Tokyo Airport Office, Haneda Airport halted all ground operations from 9:35 pm due to the risk of lightening.
Lightening is expected to continue for a while, and many planes are currently being forced to circle and wait in the air around Haneda Airport.
