Emergency warnings for Kagoshima over Typhoon Shanshan

The typhoon emergency warning is issued when an extremely dangerous typhoon that could cause extensive damage approaches.
Areas subjected to the warning may experience storms and waves that have never been seen before.
Typhoon Shanshan is moving slowly over the waters south of the Kyushu region, and could make landfall by the morning of August 29.
Gusts in some parts in the prefecture are expected to be as strong as 252 kilometers per hour.
Torrential rain of up to 600 millimeters is expected to fall by the morning of August 30.
Weather officials have called on locals to remain extremely vigilant for mudslides and flooding.
