Visitors flock to Tokyo's Meguro River to see cherry blossoms falling
People flocked to Meguro River in Tokyo on April 12 to see cherry blossoms falling on the ground and onto the water.
Officials said cherry trees reached full bloom on March 30, but many flowers were still on the trees about two weeks later near the river, a popular tourist destination during the sakura viewing season.
S/ Visitor / I saw on the internet that the flowers began to fall, but there were so many flowers still on the trees, and they were beautiful.
S/ Visitor / The wind is scattering the flower petals, but that itself looked good.
S/ Visitor / The leaves are a bit visible.
S/ Visitor / I'd say they are 80 percent in bloom. The flower petals floating on the river are also pretty.
According to the Japan Weather Association, flowers on cherry trees around Meguro River were in the state of beginning to fall on April 12.
One of the attractions are floating masses of flower petals on the surface of the river, referred to in Japanese as "hana ikada," which means flower raft.
