Keidanren proposes strengthening promotion of Japanese anime, study abroad

The leader of the business lobby, also known as the Japan Business Federation, proposed strengthening the promotion of Japanese content in the organization's future strategy plan.
Tokura Masakazu said content like anime and gaming are highly regarded abroad.
He proposed establishing a government agency to oversee the fostering of creative talent and promoting the global expansion of Japan's content.
Tokura also emphasized the importance of providing more financial support toward studying abroad, noting that the number of Japanese who study overseas is relatively small.
He said the amount of money needed for all applicants to study abroad comes to around 1 trillion yen, more than 100 times the current allocation in the government budget.
He added that the public and private sectors must work on helping those who wish to study abroad.
