Toyota Motor’s shareholder meeting began from 10 a.m. on June 18.

There were numerous voices of concern from the gathered shareholders regarding Toyota’s misconduct.

S/ Shareholder: It was announced suddenly a top company like Toyota is involved in misconduct, so it naturally raises concerns. 

S/ Shareholder: As a leading company in Japan, we expect the automaker to adhere strictly to legal methods and to manage its business with a firm commitment to compliance.

At the shareholder meeting, President Sato Koji sincerely apologized to the shareholders for the issue of improper model certification, which is necessary for the mass production of vehicles.

A proposal for the appointment of a board of directors, including Chairman Toyoda Akio, which faced opposition but was approved by a majority.
