Sumo tournament to be held in London in 2025

 

A Grand Sumo Tournament will be held at the Royal Albert Hall in London in October 2025.  

The Japan Sumo Association announced it at a press conference in London on December 4.  

It will be such an event in London for the first time in 34 years.  

Chairman Hakkaku Nobuyoshi, who participated as Yokozuna or grand champion at that time, expressed his enthusiasm for the performance. 

S/ Hakkaku Nobuyoshi, Chairman of Japan Sumo Association: We will make every possible effort so that the people of London can fully enjoy the attraction of sumo, an ancient and traditional Japanese culture. And we would like to make the performance as close to the main tournament as possible. 

The tournament will run from October 15 to 19 in 2025, with the winner to be decided during the five days of matches. Tickets will go on sale at the beginning of 2025.
