Nagata Kyosuke, President, University of Tsukuba: Basically, we’d like to congratulate him (Prince Hisahito) on his acceptance. Now that he’s been accepted, we hope that he will be able to study at the University of Tsukuba in a relaxed atmosphere.
University of Tsukuba President Nagata Kyosuke held a press conference on December 26 and answered a question about the enrollment of Prince Hisahito in spring 2025.
Prince Hisahito is currently a third-year student at Senior High School at Otsuka, the University of Tsukuba.
He passed the entrance examination for the School of Life and Environmental Sciences, Department of Biology, at the University of Tsukuba.
Regarding commuting to the university, Crown Prince Fumihito’s close aide said that nothing has been decided at this point, including whether or not he will commute from the Akasaka Estate.
University President Nagata said that the university is a school where students basically live in dormitories.
He added that while he personally would like the prince to live in the dormitory, he understands that there are certain circumstances about him.
