Thunder cancels flights at Haneda Airport
Thunder and torrential rain disrupted operations at Tokyo’s Haneda Airport and cancelled flights on August 7
Operations at the airport were canceled due to risks of lightning strike.
53 flights operated by Japan Airlines and All Nippon Airways were catcalled, affecting more than 13,000 passengers.
Some flights were forced to change their destination or return to their departure location.
All Nippon Airways staff were handing out blankets to passengers who stayed at the airport overnight.
Passenger / I’ll have to stay at the airport tonight. I had work tomorrow, but I won’t be able to make it.
Operations at the airport remained affected on August 8.
35 flights operated by JAL and ANA were canceled.
