Japan’s Crown Prince Climbs Mountains
Crown Prince Naruhito of Japan went mountain climbing for the first time in half a year today.
The 53-year-old prince arrived at Numazu, Shizuoka Prefecture by car this morning. He was able to climb the 840 foot-high Mount Tokura in about 30 minutes.
“I feel like we are still close enough to the town to hear the schoolbells,” he said upon reaching the summit. “I suppose this isn’t such a high mountain after all.”
The prince plans to climb Mount Washizu and Mount Ohira in the Numazu Alps as well.
