Kennedy posts ‘Mother’s Day Interview’
US Ambassador to Japan Caroline Kennedy has posted online what she’s calling a “Mother’s Day Interview.”
In it Kennedy refers to her mother Jacqueline.
“My mother was a woman of tremendous courage and commitment. And she worked hard to do her very best every day of her life...”
Kennedy also called for a society in which mothers can participate in the economy.
“It’s so important for women to be able to contribute to their family life as well as to the economy in which they live. And I think that all society benefits when women have full participation. I certainly know that if I want to hire someone who is a manager, a compassionate leader, and knows how to be efficient and get things done, I would want a mother.”
Kennedy has been a subject of great interest in Japan since she became ambassador last fall.
