Twenty-ton tug-of-war
When Japanese people play tug-of-war, they don’t kid around.
Residents of Daisen city in northern Japan's Akita Prefecture spent a month weaving two 10-ton ropes for their match.
The Daisen tug-of-war is a 500-year-old tradition.
According to legend, if uptown wins, the price of rice goes up, and if downtown wins, citizens will enjoy a bumper rice harvest.
More than 7,000 people participated in the event.
The upper half of town won for the second year in a row.
