Japan economy to withstand tax hike: Kuroda
The chief of the Bank of Japan, Haruhiko Kuroda says Japan’s economy is strong enough to withstand a planned tax hike.
Kuroda said today (Wednesday) Japan’s economy would continue to rebound in the face of April’s sales tax increase.
Kuroda spoke after the BOJ’s policy board decided to stand pat on its current monetary easing policy.
The central banker said Japan’s economy would slow after the tax hike, but would then pick up on the back of strong public and corporate investment.
