Nissan’s Gohsn paid almost ten million dollars last year
Nissan Motor CEO Carlos Gohsn was paid almost ten million dollars last year.
Gohsn revealed his compensation at a shareholders meeting today in Yokohama.
The Nissan chief executive’s pay rose about 70,000 dollars from last year.
The increase came as Nissan’s growth was boosted by Prime Minister Shinzo Abe’s “Abenomics” policies.
Executives whose pay exceeds one million dollars have been obliged to disclose their salaries since March 2010.
According to the Tokyo Chamber of Commerce, Carlos Gohsn was the third highest paid executive among listed companies in Japan.
Gohn is one of only a few foreigners to run a large Japanese corporation.
CEOs in Japan typically aren’t as well compensated as their Western counterparts.
