Tokyo Electric Power Company has been struggling for months with the issue of contaminated water. Until recently, experts believed the accumulation of water inside the reactor buildings at Fukushima Daiichi was caused by groundwater flowing from the mountains. But a recent study indicates that the main source is rainwater. It recommends that the surface of the site be covered with asphalt to limit water infiltration.
