Plurality opposes collective self-defense: poll
A new poll in Japan shows people opposing a move to allow Japan to exercise the right to collective self-defense.
Prime Minister Shinzo Abe wants to reinterpret Japan’s peace constitution to allow its military to come to the aid of allies under attack.
The U.S. supports the move.
48 percent of respondents opposed Japan exercising the right to collective self-defense, with 35 percent in favor.
The poll by Japan’s NTV also showed Abe’s approval rating back to 50 percent after dropping below the mark for the first time last month.
