Gadgets for the whole family at Tokyo toy show
Japan’s largest toy show kicked off today.
Toymakers from around the world showed their newest wares at the International Tokyo Toy Show 2014.
High-tech gadgets designed to attract the attention of adult consumers were prominent.
Japan’s population is shrinking and toymakers are seeking to appeal to older consumers.
Bandai’s Hako Vision uses a smartphone to project a show using technology known as project mapping inside a small cardboard box.
The Penny Racer toy car fuses traditional toy fun with modern technology. The toy uses sensors similar to those found in real automobiles to avoid obstacles.
There were also many soccer-related toys designed to capitalize on Japan’s participation in the World Cup in Brazil.
Nearly 160 toymakers from around the world exhibited around 35,000 toys.
The event opens to the public Saturday and Sunday.
