Abe, nuclear power unpopular: poll
Support for Japan’s Prime Minister Shinzo Abe has dropped below 50% for the first time.
The new NTV poll showed only 49 percent of those surveyed support the Abe administration, a 2.8 percent drop from last month.
Abe became Japan’s prime minister for the second time in 2012.
The poll also shows Japanese people still opposed to nuclear power in the wake of the Fukushima disaster.
Support for restarting nuclear reactors that pass safety checks is 32 percent.
57 percent of those surveyed said they do not support the restart of nuclear plants.
